Touchstone Center for Crafts
Board Member Expectations
The primary role of a board member of Touchstone Center for Crafts is (1) to contribute to the defining of the mission of the organization and governing the fulfillment of that mission, and (2) to carry out the functions of the office of Board Members and/or Officer as delineated in the bylaws.
In order to accomplish this, board members are expected to:
· Always act for the good of the organization
· Represent the organization in a positive and supportive manner
· Attend at least 75% of monthly board meetings
· Serve on at least one board committee and attend 75% of committee meetings
· Attend special events
· Come prepared to contribute to the discussion at board meetings, having read the agenda and background supporting material relevant to the meeting
· Work with and respect the opinions of other board members and leave all personal prejudices out of board discussions
· Refrain from intruding on administrative issues that are the responsibility of the management and staff
· Avoid and disclose any conflicts of interest
· Support actions taken by the board as a whole
· Make an annual financial contribution. The suggested minimum amount is currently $250
· Be a member in good standing of Touchstone Center for Crafts
· Participate in strategic planning meetings, board self-evaluation programs, board development workshops, seminars, and other education events that enhance skills as a board member
