Environmental Compliance Fee:
$15 – Weekend Workshop/Lodging (Two or less days/evenings)
$25 – Week-long Class/Lodging (Three or more days/evenings)
Touchstone has traditionally managed the costs of recycling and disposing of environmental waste and hazardous materials, including treatment facilities and systems, with general operating revenues. In order to partially offset the costs of these services and to meet guidelines and requirements outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Touchstone has established an Environmental Compliance Fee (ECF) to be paid by all students. Guests not participating in workshops but who are lodging on Touchstone’s campus are also required to pay this fee. This has been enacted for the protection of health, life, resources, and property through the prevention and control of unauthorized discharges into Touchstone’s grounds and/or watercourses. The ECF also represents a collaborative effort between Touchstone and the R.K. Mellon Foundation to develop and provide sustainable facilities and procedural operations that promote a clean, safe and environmentally-sound campus.
Waiting Lists
Waiting lists are created for all filled classes, and registrants will be placed on lists in order of their application date. No deposit is required to be placed on the waiting list. Should a space become available, waiting list students will be notified and must pay the $35 non-refundable processing fee plus full tuition balance to guarantee their space; otherwise, the next person waiting will be contacted.
Stand-By Enrollment
Full-time residents of Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland, and Somerset Counties (
Pennsylvania) are offered half-price tuition when they take unfilled spaces two weeks prior to the start date of a class. This offer is extended to K-12 teachers, regardless of where they reside. Similar to the Waiting List students, registrations will be taken and approved based on the order of their application date. Local residents must present a valid driver’s license or voter registration card and teachers must provide proof of employment. The discount is applicable to tuition only. Stand-by students must pay the $35 non-refundable processing fee and the full balance of tuition upon notification that they have been selected to fill the available class space.
Refunds / Cancellations:
Touchstone reserves the right to cancel a class or workshop. If this occurs, students will have the option to transfer to another class or receive a full refund. Students who cancel registration 30 or more days prior to the class start date will receive a refund of their paid deposits minus the $35 non-refundable processing fee and a $75 cancellation fee. If a student cancels any time inside the 30-day limit, no refunds will be given. No refunds of any kind will be given after a class begins. Touchstone cannot be responsible for non-refundable airline tickets or other pre-paid travel expenses.
