Jim will be teaching ‘The Lost Art of Lost Wax‘ at Touchstone from July 16–20, 2018. Lost wax casting is one of the oldest methods of creating unique, sculptural jewelry. The process of creating a wax model and seeing it become an artwork in metal is a thrilling process. Experience this thrill as you learn the traditional wax carving techniques used to create truly beautiful and unique works of wearable art. The class will bring you through the wax working process, how to sprue and invest your wax, the burn-out, and finally the casting and finishing of your metal artwork. This workshop is suitable for All Levels. An emphasis on wax working skills will benefit experienced jewelers while enabling those new to the field to start with a strong foundation.
