After graduating with her BFA from Winthrop University in 2013, Sam Oliver attended a short-term residency at William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Afterwards, she completed a year and a half long residency at The Bascom: Center for Visual Arts in Highlands, NC, then moving to Pennsylvania for a six-month residency at Brockway Center for Arts and Technology. She has been a winter resident artist at Penland School of Crafts, as well as a Pentaculum 2019 Resident Artist at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Mostly recently, Oliver has been recognized as one of 21 Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly. She currently works as a full-time potter and educator out of her home studio in Tryon, NC.
