Headshot of Sasha Phillips

Pittsburgh, PA

Sasha Phillips began her training in art during her youth in the USSR, where she attended an art academy and apprenticed with several established artists. Now she manages to combine seemingly incompatible disciplines—art and law—into a practice that is focused on wellness, community connection and women’s issues. Sasha graduated from the Moscow Art Academy in Russia, and later received her BFA from Shepherd University and her Masters in painting from the University of Maryland. While in school, she led several initiatives which provided art wellness and creative engagement for local community. Sasha participated in various national and international juried and invitational exhibits, including Venezia Biennale 58’s Art Against Violence, Oil Painters of America, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Best of America Small Works, Portrait Society of America, Dante: La Divina Comedia, and received numerous awards. After receiving her law degree, she expanded her focus on women’s issues into the legal realm while continuing to promote art wellness to cope with the stress of fast-paced high pressure professions and to teach these skills to others. While maintaining a busy international trade law practice at Dentons Cohen & Grigsby, Sasha launched Art Wellness Advocates which provides wellness programming for legal professionals and completed a Masters Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Harvard University to boost her workplace well-being management skills. Additionally, Sasha serves as a Healing Arts Director for Alina’s Light, a non-profit organization aimed at combatting domestic violence and helping victims recover and thrive. Sasha is an avid runner and a mother of four children, all of whom grew up to be art enthusiasts.
