Touchstone Center for Crafts is thrilled to be hosting The Figure In Craft national juried exhibition. This exhibition explores the intricate intersection between figurative art and craft mediums, offering a curated selection of works that reflect the human figure, identity, and emotions through hands-on, traditional processes. Featuring a wide array of craft-based techniques, the show highlights the skill and artistry involved in creating human representations with clay, textiles, wood, metal, paper, and glass.

Eligibility

We invite artists working in all mediums to submit their work for consideration in The Figure In Craft, an exhibition that celebrates the intersection of figurative art and the craftsmanship of diverse materials. This exhibition will feature works that explore the human figure, identity, and emotion through traditional, tactile processes, embracing a broad range of craft techniques.

Please submit original work that has been completed within the last three (3) years. Touchstone Center for Crafts reserves the right to reject any work that is not suitably prepared for exhibition or that differs from the original submission. All work must no larger than 30” in any direction.

1st Place: One 100% off tuition scholarship for any 2025 Touchstone workshop

Entries and Fees

$35 for up to 3 entries.
Applications open May 1st. All entries must be received by June 1st.

Pricing and Commission

All work must be for sale. Touchstone Center for Crafts shall sell the artworks at the retail price as specified by the artist. Artists will be paid 50% of the retail price for sold work.

Shipping/Delivery of Artwork

The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping or mailing artwork to and from Touchstone Center for Crafts using UPS, or USPS. Artwork may also be hand-delivered to and picked up from Touchstone.

Meet the Jurors

Travis Winters is a ceramic artist and Programs Director at Touchstone Center for Crafts in southwestern Pennsylvania.  Originally from Corning, NY, he found his fascination for working in clay at community college and later went on to receive BA from Buffalo State College and an MFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Working primarily with animals and figures, he creates figures based on mundane day-to-day life, past struggles and real people. Winters exhibits work nationally and has shown at Baltimore Clayworks in Baltimore, MD, The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, PA, The Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA, The Baton Rouge Gallery in Baton Rouge, LA, and the AMOCA Museum in Pomona, CA. Travis was the Lormina Salter Fellowship Artist at Baltimore Clayworks, long term Resident at Odyssey Clayworks in Asheville, NC, a Kiln God Summer Resident at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in New Castle ME and a Short-Term Resident Artist at Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, MT.

Brienne Rosner received a BFA in Painting with a minor in Art History from Boston University. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions nationally, including solo shows at Cedar Crest College and two-person exhibitions at Allens Lane Art Center and East Stroudsburg University, and a featured artist at Gravers Lane Gallery. Her work is in collections such as the Boston Public Library and a permanent installation at the Metcalf Science Center of Boston University. Brienne has been a visiting artist at Cedar Crest College and Lafayette College. She was awarded the Louise K. Binswanger Prize for Best Artist New to the Show at the 40th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show.

She resides in Dingmans Ferry, PA located in the Pocono Mountains. In addition to her studio work, Brienne is the Executive Director of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG), a national non-profit that supports and advances the professional practice of artists, designers, jewelers and metalsmiths.
