Intermediate* $95-$145 Materials and Studio Fees**
Blacksmithing instructors and blacksmiths who are thinking about teaching, this is the workshop for you! The National Curriculum requirements for Level I and parts of Level II will be covered, along with tips and tricks for teaching beginner blacksmiths. Allotted hands-on studio time will be a deep dive into the Level I coursework so that participants become comfortable teaching the projects and exercises listed on the Level I Curriculum. The workshop will focus on fundamental skills that might need finetuning, including forge welding, punching and drifting, heat treatment, and forging to dimension, with lots of discussion and coaching on ways to present this material to a struggling student. Becky and Victoria will cover their philosophy behind why they teach the curriculum the way they recommend, with options to make it relevant for you and your students. Participants will receive coaching on putting together and preparing the class demonstration that is required to earn Instructor Certification.
*The participant who will get the most out of this workshop will have completed most of the ABANA National Curriculum Level I (or have similar experience) or who currently instructs blacksmithing in any capacity.
**Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
