ABANA National Curriculum Level-2 w/ Mark Aspery & Victoria Ritter

Intermediate

$TBD Materials and Studio Fees*

This is a project-based workshop centered on the ABANA National Blacksmith Curriculum focusing on the NC L-2 curriculum, up to but not including the L-2 grille. We will start with forge welding using the basket-handled poker project which contains a cornucopia of welding techniques. Evening activities will concentrate on hand tooling and basic heat treatment. The power hammer will be utilized to help facilitate the completion of the leafing hammer. Bottom tools, upset square corners, and scrollwork will round out the week. Successful completion of the workshop will enable you to receive level-1 instructor status after signing the ABANA safety policy. You will also be led through some of the projects required for the ABANA level-2/3 certification. If you have completed most of the requirements of the ABANA level-1 certification and are looking to move on, then this course is for you.

*Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
