Hollow Build the Self-Referential Bust w/ Misty Gamble

All Levels

$95-$145 Materials and Studio Fees*

Using the self as a source, Misty will teach you how to hollow-build a self-referential bust through an interwoven combination of slab, coil, and pinch methods. Participants with an interest in figure and hollow building techniques as well as mark making will enhance their ability to understand proportion as it relates to the figure. Misty will simultaneously sculpt to demonstrate handbuilding techniques for balance, bone structure, anatomy, gesture, and facial expression, plus demonstrations on all facial features, planes of the head, and hair techniques. An emphasis is placed on the use of the human figure as a self-referential vehicle to explore personal narrative. Additionally, you will learn how to create an interior clay armature and enlarge a maquette that we will create the very first day!

*Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided. Final cost of these fees will be posted at least two weeks ahead of the workshop to be paid in full prior to check-in.
