2024 TEEN WEEK – Blacksmithing for Teens w/ Anna R. Koplik

**TEEN WEEK WORKSHOPS WILL BE FILLED BY AWARDED STUDENTS AFTER ALL PROGRAM APPLICATIONS ARE REVIEWED. THIS WILL HAPPEN AFTER THE APRIL 15TH DEADLINE DATE.**

All Levels (Ages 14-17) $100 Materials and Studio Fees*

Come and learn how to swing a hammer at the anvil, work a coal forge, and forge hot steel – all in a fun, enthusiastic, and inclusive environment! Throughout this workshop, you will learn many of the basic processes in blacksmithing, like tapering, twisting, bending, and punching. Everyone will walk away with their own hand-forged objects, from decorative items to functional tools, and gain the skills and knowledge to continue exploring blacksmithing. Participants will develop safe and responsible habits while taking plenty of dance breaks.

*Materials and studio fees are charged to students based on studio usage and materials Touchstone is providing at the request of the instructor. Additionally, some instructors may also require that you bring certain materials and tools with you, in which case a list will be provided.

MATERIAL LIST

Workshop Participants Should Bring the Following Materials:

  1. Any person forging tools you wish to use (Optional)
  2. Natural fiber clothing (Avoid Synthetics)-Long pants
  3. Close toed Shoes (Boots)
  4. Protective eyewear (Touchstone has safety glasses, but feel free to bring your own)
  5. Leather Gloves (Optional)
  6. Dust Mask
  7. Bandana/hat (Optional)
  8. Sketch book/notebook
  9. Earplugs/Hearing Protection
