Virtual Workshops

Look for an exciting lineup of Virtual Workshops this fall.

 

Are you missing human interaction and in person learning opportunities due to the pandemic? We may have the solution to help clear up the COVID Blues! New for 2021, Touchstone Center for Crafts will be bringing the workshop experience directly to your home through our Virtual Workshop Series. These workshops will feature renowned artists from across the country giving exciting interactive demonstrations and talks.

All of our Virtual Workshops will be hosted on Zoom and the recorded session will be available for up to 1-month after the class. Students looking to participate must have a Zoom compatible device and a strong/reliable internet connection. Links to the Zoom Session will be emailed to participants upon registration to the workshop. We ask that participants do not share the Zoom Link. Virtual Workshop

The Tin Can Can-Can

How many ways can you repurpose a tin can? This workshop is about exploring all the possibilities. More information to follow.

 

Marlene True is an obsessive collector of tin cans and other ephemera. Sharing her enthusiasm for working with these materials Marlene enjoys teaching. As a guest artist, she has taught at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Penland School of Crafts, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Pocosin Arts School of Fine Craft, Peters Valley and West Dean College in the UK. Marlene earned her MFA at East Carolina University and her BFA at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her work is part of the collections of the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, TN, the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, The Racine Museum of Art in Racine Wisconsin and the Enamel Arts Foundation in Los Angeles, CA. Marlene volunteers for and has served on the Board of Directors for the Society of North American Goldsmiths.

Materials

Touchstone Center for Crafts will not be providing any materials for Virtual Workshops unless otherwise stated. A complete and comprehensive list of materials and equipment used throughout the workshop will be made available to students prior to the start of class. Students are not required to purchase materials and participate in the project(s) demonstrated by the instructor.

Refunds & Cancellations

All Virtual Workshops are non-refundable unless otherwise canceled by Touchstone Center for Crafts. Although Touchstone makes every effort to run each scheduled workshop, the organization reserves the right to cancel a workshop for any reason (primarily low enrollment). Touchstone will make cancellation notifications at least 7 days ahead of the start of the workshop. If a workshop cancellation occurs, students will be able to (1) transfer to another workshop, (2) receive a full refund or (3) donate workshop tuition to Touchstone’s scholarship program.
