April Franklin

April Franklin has over 25 years of experience with metal. From working on maintaining large scale outdoor pieces to producing one-of-a-kind architectural pieces and following her own passion for pattern welded steel, April has a wealth of experience with a wide range of materials. She has taught at the Penland School of Crafts in NC, Peters Valley in NJ, the Steel Yard in RI, and currently manages the Graduate Program’s Fabrication Lab at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts – Tufts University and teaches blacksmithing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA. Franklin collaborates with her ceramicist wife, Kathy King, integrating metal accents and fittings to sculptural ceramics and wearable art.
