Freddie Bainbridge is a Pittsburgh-based encaustic artist, storyteller, and survivor whose work blends photography, wax, pigment, and memory into luminous contemporary icons. Drawing from four decades of lived experience-from the AIDS epidemic in New York to the rebirth of his creative voice-he creates “memory vessels” that fuse history, architecture, and personal narrative into tactile, ethereal forms. As the founder of Bainbridge Art, Freddie leads workshops, salons, and community programs that center creativity and intergenerational learning, while his exhibitions-including a forthcoming feature at Heinz Hall-highlight his signature photo-encaustic archives and bold abstract works. His art invites viewers into a deeper relationship with beauty, preservations, and the stories that linger in all of us.
