Early in his career, Glen Gardner had decided that working with metal would be his life pursuit.
For more than 50 years, he has been exploring the techniques, histories, and science of metal working, and is now focused on raising holloware. Essentially, the art of “raising” is an ancient hammering method which allows flat sheets of metal to be transformed into hollow (vessel like) forms. The nature of this process is both rhythmic and meditative. Basic, primal, requiring concentration and determination, this art is at once alluring and challenging.
