Margaret Saylor is a botanical artist, designer, and educator from Berks County, Pennsylvania, celebrated for her exquisitely detailed paintings of mushrooms and forest flora in watercolor, graphite, and egg tempera. She holds a BFA in Communications Design from Kutztown University and a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration (with Distinction) from the New York Botanical Garden, blending a keen design sense with a passion for close botanical observation. Margaret has exhibited widely, serves as Editor/Designer of The Botanical Artist journal for the American Society of Botanical Artists, and teaches at institutions such as Jenkins Arboretum, Mt. Cuba Center, Longwood Gardens, and Wayne Art Center. Recently, her dedication to botanical art and research was recognized with an artist residency at Oak Spring Garden Foundation, where she focused on depicting native meadow plants in egg tempera. She is also co-founder of The Artful Wild, a Patreon community celebrating artistic paths through the natural world. Her teaching and artwork encourage students to observe keenly, draw thoughtfully, and celebrate the subtle beauty and stories of woodland and meadow life.
