Melissa Weiss is a full-time studio potter in Asheville, NC. She runs a community studio that serves over 15 artists. She makes custom stoneware from clay that she digs in Arkansas. All of her pots are one of a kind. She fires to cone 10 in a gas reduction kiln and reduction cools with wood. She is interested in making surfaces that tell a story, utilizing a variety of slips, glazes, oxides and underglazes. Melissa is primarily a handbuilder but also uses the wheel.
