Sarita Westrup was raised in south Texas and earned an MFA in Fiber from the University of North Texas in 2016. Her work has been shown in “The Weight of Wonder” at the Penland Gallery (NC), “Holding Space: Woven Works” at Chautauqua Institution (NY), and “Flow States – La Trienal” at El Museo del Barrio (NYC) . She has been awarded a Nasher Artist Grant, a semi-finalist Nest Heritage Craft Prize, and a $10,000 grant through the Teaching Artist Cohort from the Center of Craft. Westrup was an artist-in-residence at the Penland School of Craft from 2024-2025.
