Elizabeth Lawrence

Somerset, PA

Elizabeth Lawrence is a dedicated researcher at the University of Pittsburgh with a deep passion for the intersection of craft, history, science and material culture. A glass and ceramics artist herself, Elizabeth has long been captivated by the transformative nature of these mediums, especially in the setting of Touchstone, blending technical expertise with artistic exploration.

Her connection to Touchstone Center for Crafts dates back to 1998, when she first attended her first of many ceramics classes. Over the years, she has contributed in numerous capacities, including serving as a board member. Now, with great enthusiasm, she is excited to reprise her role and continue supporting Touchstone’s mission of fostering creativity, education, and community in the craft world.

Beyond her professional and artistic pursuits, Elizabeth can often be found unwinding with craft cocktails and trivia nights at the University Club or indulging in the vibrant energy of a Sunday drag brunch. She believes in the power of community—whether in the studio, the research lab, or over a perfectly mixed Manhattan.

Elizabeth is excited to bring her experience, creativity, and love for the arts back to Touchstone and looks forward to helping shape its future.
