Joy Knepp is a glass artist who lives and works in her home studio in the beautiful Laurel Highlands in Somerset, PA. She is a retired visual arts educator from the Shanksville-Stonycreek School District where she taught for 27 years. Her education includes a B.S. and B.A. degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Masters’ degree work from Frostburg State University in Maryland, California State University, in Pennsylvania, and The University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has taught techniques in Glass at Touchstone Center for Crafts, Laurel Arts in Somerset and Brockway Center for Arts and Technology. Joy considers herself a “lifelong” learner and has studied at Pittsburgh Glass Center, Goggleworks, Reading, PA, The Studio at Corning Museum of Glass and many other workshops affiliated with the International Society of Glass Beadmakers, of which she has been a member since 2004. She maintains an active membership in the Pennsylvania Art Education Association as a retired art educator as well as membership in the Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh. Her work has been exhibited and sold in galleries and art centers in the region.
