Touchstone Center for Crafts Short-Term Artist-in-Residence Program offers a unique environment for artists and makers to live and work within a creative community. At Touchstone, we offer residencies in our fully equipped blacksmithing, ceramics, glass, small metals, and painting studios. We also accept artists working in media outside of those mentioned, depending on the needs of the artist and what our studios are able to accommodate. For this program we are looking for self-motivated individuals who are seeking the time, space, and equipment to focus on their studio practice in the company of fellow artists and makers. A qualified candidate for the program should possess a strong working knowledge and understanding of the equipment and tools used within their designated studio. No instruction is provided

No meals will be provided to Resident Artists throughout their stay on campus. Although Touchstone’s Dining Hall will be closed for the duration of the residencies, artists will have access to a fully equipped communal kitchen, grill, and dining area. Throughout the residency artists often come together and periodically plan group meals during their stay. There are multiple grocery stores and restaurants within a 15-20 min drive from Touchstone’s campus. Due to the rural location of Touchstone’s campus, it is strongly recommended that participants bring a car to the residency.
